I’m a New Media and Web Communication expert with many years of in-depth experience in Online Communities, Social Networking and Knowledge Management.

Currently, I’m supporting the Communication for Development Service of Food and Agriculture Organization – FAO of the United Nations for the rural radio projects and the CSDI ComDev Platforms network.

My interest in these days is focusing on the potential synergies between the Internet and mobile technologies. Cellphones are such interesting devices to bridge the digital divide and can be very useful to manage knowledge in rural areas, mostly if combined with Social Networking activities on the Web.

In the past, I’ve been working for the FAO’s e-learning initiative called the Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) coordinating the development of the training module entitled “Building online communities and networks“.

I have a degree in Political Science at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and a Master degree in International Cooperation and Project Design. My dissertation on “Bridging the rural digital divide – Hypothesis of a Knowledge Community for Community Radio Broadcasters in Africa” was prepared during a long stay at the AMARC headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa.
